Year 6 Bake Off: July 2021

The Year 6 children took part in their annual ‘Stonesfield School Y6 Bake Off’ – the ultimate baking battle where passionate year 6 bakers compete to be crowned the School’s Best Amateur Baker! Over the course of the morning, we followed the trials and tribulations of the competitors as they attempted to prove their baking prowess. The children had clearly spent considerable time thinking through their designs as they took on the ‘Showstopper Bake’. The oven gloves were off and the bakers showcased their depth of skill and talent. The complexities of this task called for professional standards in taste and appearance. We were looking for the most impressive and elaborate creations but we were after that first-class taste too! All the children surpassed our expectations…not a soggy bottom in sight!
It was exceptionally hard to narrow the bakes down to the top three. However, after great deliberation (and a bit of extra tasting) a decision was made:
🥉3rd Place – Jacob
🥈2nd Place – Lexi
🥇1st Place – Martha

Well done Martha a fitting tribute to the NHS through a rainbow layered, bomb cake which was soft, moist, and beautifully decorated.
Huge congratulations to all the children for entering, especially those children who were isolating and joined in remotely.
I’m expecting to hear of a few applications to the Junior Bake Off in the not too distant future!
