The purpose of a school council is to give pupils a formal voice to represent their peers, discuss improvements, and participate in decisions that affect the school. This provides opportunities for students to develop leadership and life skills like problem-solving and democracy, while also helping the school community improve its environment and routines.

The school council are chosen representatives from each class.  Each class votes to elect two children who speak for the class at School Council Meetings.  They collect ideas from their classes to share, as well as feedback to their classes on any decisions made by the whole council.  This gives the children a chance to offer their opinions and ideas for improvements in areas such as the school grounds, what facilities the children would like, fundraising opportunities and many other subjects!
