Intent

At Stonesfield School our curriculum aims to enable pupils to communicate simply in another language. We empower our children to understand and respond to French speakers by developing simple listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.   We intend to open children to other cultures, to foster our children’s curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world.

Lower Key Stage 2

During Year 3 and 4, children are taught French weekly  This allows the children to opportunity to describe people in their family and begin simple conversations such as asking each other how they are.  , places and actions orally and in writing.

Upper Key Stage 2

During Year 5 and 6, children broaden their vocabulary as they learn to describe places, such as their classroom and simple actions, such as walking and running.

Stonesfield School offers further opportunities for children to develop language skills through our weekly French Club run by Madame Taylor.  There is a charge for these sessions.
